Randy Angell Designs in collaboration with builder Pool Environments have finished a modern swimming pool with a cantilevered deck, a sunken lounge, and floating stepper pads. The motor court entry is adjacent to the swimming pool area. It is lined with synthetic turf joints and clad with Hartstone steppers.
This is the rear side of the spa that features fifteen custom stainless steel scuppers developed by Rand Angell Designs. They pour out from above an acrylic covered window into a hidden gutter system in the rocky media underneath. With the acrylic panel, you will be able to see through the opening while at the same time it helps to protect the fire from the windy courtyard.
There’s a raised perimeter overflow the spa on the other side of the wall. It was designed in such a way to allow the water to flow up and over the three directions of the spa. The linear, automated, gas-burning firepit is set in the opening of the wall. On the other hand, the floating stepper pads that stretch across the spa rear will provide easy walking access from one side to another.
An all-tile wet deck is spotted at one end of the swimming pool. It is furnished with two chaise-style lounge chairs. Behind the wet deck, there’s a conversation area and a sunken fire pit surrounded by a shallow water fountain.
Thanks to the perimeter overflow design, the pool water is at the same level as the fire pit, flowing right up to the edge before dropping down into the narrow seam and captured by the hidden gutter system below. There’s a painted steel structure above the sunken lounge. It features a movable semi-shade awning and allows for adjustable coverage.
The white stone used in the project is a custom concrete product created by Hartstone.
The pool cabana is connected to the sunken lounge. It features a covered dining and sitting area.
A cantilevered wood deck is seen in the pool area. It is flanked by two automated gas-burning fire bowls. Meanwhile, there is a hidden bench-seating area underneath and covered by a water curtain.
